If you’re in LA…
Our friend and incredible artist, Jonny Fenix is showing in LA. The opening was last Saturday at the 6th street warehouse. Maybe you can still see his work alongside work by Shepard Fairey, Travis Millard, Jason Lee, Tobin Yelland and many more…
SLAP Magazine interviews Tobin Yelland.
“I would rather be broke doing creative work than making good money having no life” -Tobin Yelland
Nemo’s friend Tobin Yelland sat down with artist Kelly D. Williams and SLAP editor Mark Whiteley for an interesting chat covering Tobin’s past with Thrasher Magazine, his influences, where his career is heading and other little tid-bits that give insight as to what makes Tobin tick. Check out the convo HERE. I suggest you check his website out as well, classic shots from skateboarding’s past and the culture that surrounded it.
Tobin Yelland -self promo piece
If you have not had the good fortune of receiving one of Tobin’s promo posters, I can only share with you in 72 dpi, the coolness of the treat. A quick description here. The paper is trimmed out at 24×16, a recycled flavor, the quality of the ink feels like that of early Xerox machines. It is printed two-sided, one color. There is something tactile about receiving a physical piece of art via the mail. It goes in another part of the brain and has more importance. Tobin is well know for his photography in Beautiful Losers. The film uses genuine story telling of skater types and artisans. His sensability is to find the beauty in the dark and sometimes hard life that surrounds him.

Tobin currently lives in New York City. His photos can be seen at www.tobinyelland.com.
