The guys at F-stoppers never cease to amaze me with with the behind-the-scenes video they manage to find. This one actually comes straight from the editor, Patrick Hall. After getting tired of shooting traditional wakeboarding actions shots in his hometown, and desiring a commercial feel, Hall decided to get intense in studio. Employing a crew of nearly 10 assistants, multiple strobe packs, 5 pro wakeboarders, and an intricate rope system, definitely some impressive images made in the end. Pay attention to how well the models hold their look when the buckets of (probably cold) water are tossed at them!
Here at StudioNemo we’ve been working on a top secret project for a few months, the Aries2010 book/time capsule. Nike Snowboarding commissioned Trevor to collaborate on the curation their “history of snowboarding” book/time capsule that was revealed at the opening for the Winter Olympics in Vancouver this last weekend. Artist Brian Elliot‘s time capsule looks incredible. Kari Rowe did an amazing job shooting the time capsule and everything else for the book. Trevor and Jay worked non stop curating and art directing. Here is a taste of what we’ve done behind the scenes….
Vancouver shop The Boardroom is hosting Aries 2010, helping to launch it alongside the 2010 Winter Olympics with events this past Saturday, 13 February 2010 and next Friday, 19 February 2010, which will both feature presentations by snowboarding legends Terry Kidwell, Dano Pendygrass, Ken Achenbach and Barrett Christy.

Day 2 was a-rockin all day affair w/ Smith Optics Athletes: Mike Gleason, Tanner Gudauskas, Bothters Alex Smith, Koa Smith w/ special bearded guest Dave Seone. Thanks Tag and JP from smith and the whole Nemo Crew. Everyone killed it! …as usual.
Time once again for our friends at smith to stop by for the upcoming Smith catalog shoot here at StudioNemo, our first day featured Pro surfers Dillon Perillo and Alek Parker. Stay tuned for more as we have a busy week!

Nemo’s own Austin Will and our good pal Nick Lipton of YoBeat put together a sweet little video premier at studio nemo Saturday Nov. 15th. They showed Airblaster’s new film August, Team Thunder’s new movie Gold Country, and Leeward Cinemas’ My Own Two Feet and Isenseven’s “Teenage Love Graffiti.”
With beer courtesy of Nike Snowboarding and Isenseven…it was a great night, no fights, no vomit, tons of new faces, prizes, smiles, and redbull! check out the whole story @ yobeat.
Jonny Davenport and Jeff T did it again with their amazing photobooth. Check out all the great photos of halloween guests on our Flickr account here
2008’s Studionemo’s Halloween extravaganza broke an all time attendance record. DJ Joel Skool, Brandon and Ned mixed the beats and when Thriller hit the airwaves, the crowd was all dancing. Costumes at the Nemo event were amazing and creative. check out the party pictures on our Flickr account.
One of our own, Christopher Douglas, has designed these amazing T’s to show his (and I would venture to say all of our) support for Barack Obama for President!!!!! We had a short but fun shoot for them in the studio today. Beautiful shirt, beautiful photo (Carlin Sundell), beautiful models (Liz and Tyler) and a beautiful new start for the US of A. BARACK ME LIKE A HURRICANE!
We were extremely happy to welcome the 6.0 athletes Nigel Sylvester, Ben Horan and Trevor Jacob back into the studio the other day to shoot some stuff for Nike 6.0. And Josh Letchworth was back again ready for action. Thank you everyone for another great shoot and for sweating it out.
The lovely Mr. Letchworth and his fierce assistant Bret are in the studio today for another Nike 6.0 shoot. Stay tuned for great stuff.
Recently here at Studio Nemo, we were having trouble with our 5 year old Imacon Ixpress, nothing severe, just time consuming hiccups that bogged down shoot time, not good for us or our clients. So after a few months of research and meeting with some digi back companies, we ended up going with the Phase One P45. Although the P45 is not 100% perfect I’d say the pros definitely outweigh the cons, the only cons being the software interface is not the most user friendly. The best part about the P45 is its portability compared to the Imacon. With the P45, you can slap in a Compact Flash card and shoot away. Unlike the Imacon where your lugging around and plugged into a power pack/hard drive you wear over your shoulder. Not to mention the resolution of the P45 sports 39 megapixels to Imacons 16! We did some test shots to see how they compare, check em out after the jump! (And yes, I did the cheesiest photoshop job on purpose! Kinda going for a Back To The Future pt.2 (above) and part 3(below) heh.)
Last week Nike6.0 photographer Josh Letchworth dropped in to our studios to shoot various 6.0 athletes while Nike was hosting the kids for migration week, which they do every summer. Migration is an activity filled week and a meet and greet for all the athletes from the different sports to get to know each other. Even after running around all day, the kids were good about having to stay up til 2am-ish to get their photos taken. We were hammering out 16-18hr days, everyone pulled their weight and kicked ass. It was also the biggest build we’ve done for a set to date! All in all, it was lots of lights, lots of fun, lots of laughs! BIG thanks to Josh, the athletes, and everyone involved!!!!! Enjoy the video.
When ever you get a bunch of dudes together that have been growing their beards for about 4 months and they all trim off their face fur at once, It’s gonna be rough. That was the case this past friday for the Beard Bake Off here at Nemo Design. While Trevor was documenting the occasion ( which you can read below) I set up the camera to capture blackmail photos eyecandy to share with the world!
*WARNING* Not for the faint of heart. Much more after the jump!
Nemo’s first party of the year was a blast. Our white studio was christened with “the blood of christ” for Easter morn. Lots of sweaty dancing and happy faces, well, except when TG was shining the 15 watt video light in your eyes…. [vodpod id=ExternalVideo.489185&w=425&h=350&fv=] posted with vodpod
