Our beloved skate and snow shop Exit Real World puts 16 candles on their cake this month! Yes it seems only yesterday i was spending my saturdays loitering at the Salem Exit, pestering Missy and Brad to put on another skate video, while i contemplated spending my hard earned allowance on some new abec 3 Lucky’s… those were the days. So don’t miss the birthday bash, happening at all three Exit locations this month!
Marilyn Manson played the Roseland Theatre this Monday! The house was sold out, the show was great, the crowd was insane and the light show and costumes were awesome! To see a little video from the performance click here.

The Bread Art Project was created to, “increase awareness of the growing hunger problem in the US.” For every design submitted, $1 will go toward Feeding America, the nation’s leading domestic hunger-relief organization.
Eat locally made bread! Support the growers closest to you! And help feed families who can’t feed themselves. It’s dire times out there.
And, on the walk home I saw this little ditty (click here to see after the jump)… (more…)
I just came home from the Von Iva show at Doug Fir, and this sunday night show was fire! Those three girls put on an amazingly energetic show and the crowd was no let down! Keyboardist Rebecca Kupersmith was really stoked on the poster i did for the show (props for Nemo!) and once that trio got on stage is was loud, fast and personal. Kelly was throwing her drums and Jillian was unbuttoning my flannel and flashing the fans! The Portland crowd roared and the girls came out for one more song after they finished their set, the show was ferocious.
It is time once again! February has long been the month for Portland’s famed Doom Town Rock & Roll Fashion show, however this year it goes by a different name, the Sweet F.A. Rock & Roll Fashion show. The production is still headed by two of Portland’s mightiest design minds Erin “Beretta” Cry of Revolver Revolver and Elizabeth Mollo of Disorder Cloths. As for whats in store, i was able to sneak a look at the fashion and speak with some of this years featured designers, and it looks like this year is shaping up to be another Doom Town Productions smash! Get your tickets, and get your ass to the Fez Ballroom on the night of Feb. 21st.

About Writing on the Wall
The four-man crew of Garrett Reynolds, Dennis Enarson, Nigel Sylvester, and Mike Spinner spent over a year living out of suitcases to film the first Nike 6.0 BMX movie, Writing on the Wall. From 4-wheelin’ to 4-star, ditches to public parks, the 6.0 crew scoured the corners of the Earth to discover the undiscovered and lay down new lines. Battling school calendars, narcolepsy, ridiculous competition schedules, and border patrol; the crew rallied to capture amazing riding. Writing on the Wall showcases the distinct style of each rider, from Nigel’s street skills to Spinner’s technical prowess; from Dennis who rides anything at any time to Garrett’s assault on cities around the world. The 6.0 crew represents the next generation of riders driving the progression of BMX. Enjoy the tour, as one of today’s most diverse BMX teams travels to Beijing, Dubai, Barcelona, NYC, Australia, and more.

By Lucien Pellegrin
I gain inspiration from the clean, dirty, gritty subcultures of humanity who have been torn and beaten by a social construct that is no longer conducive for their personal condition. Through this inspiration, I see the Beauty in all that we are. In essence, there is no one way to live life, no right way to make art, no perfect way to die.
Lucien Pellegrin lives and works in Seattle as a teaching artist for a non-profit organization by the name of Arts Corps. Come check the Lucians art out Friday Dec 5th 6-10 PM at StudioNemo 1875 SE Belmont st. Portland,OR.

The Ones We Love is a project highlighting young and talented photographers from around the world. Each artist contributed six photographs of the person(s) who is most important to them, taken outdoors in a natural setting. The goal of the website is to portray the people who are loved, cherished, and inspirational to these artists, and also showcase the differences and similarities in the photographs each of them took within the same guidelines.
I love the idea of a relational art and making biographical art through the places and people nearest to you.
Things got sweet last night at Nemo Design when Glass Candy made a special appearance on stage in Studio Nemo. Ida No and Johnny Jewel rocked a crowd of nearly 300 sweaty Portlanders till late in the night, and stayed after to dance. Here are a few pics of what went down, the rest of the party shots are soon to come, so stay tuned!

I’ve been a fan of his work for the last few years, falling in love when i first saw into his Polaroid panoramics. Whether you’re a long time ogler of his work or are just learning of it now you will be stoked to know that These Birds Walk has just published a book of his work. This book is one of a series of affordable art books that include works from 3 more of my favorite photographers! Ari Marcopoulos, Mike Brodie, and Jim Goldberg. Ari and Jim’s books are yet to come but Mike Brodie’s (aka the Polaroid Kid’s) book was amazing. I cant wait to see what Jim and Ari have in store for us!
